“鉄道員”という名のバッグ

素材には伊ヴェネト州の名門タンナー、ポレット社によるシュリンクエンボスレザーを使用。傷が目立たず、使い込むほどに風合いが増す。ブラック・チョコ（写真）・グレージュの3色展開。The material used is shrink-embossed leather from Poletto, a renowned tannery in Italy’s Veneto region. Scratches are less noticeable, and it develops a richer character over time with use. （English follows）最近実際に使って「便利だな」と思っているのが、イタリアの革工房、ファットリアデル クオーイオの「イル フェッロヴィエーレ」である。横長のボディと丸みを帯びた底面が印象的なシルエット。2本の異なる長さのハンドルにより、手持ち・肩かけ・斜めがけ・クラッチの4通りのスタイルが楽しめる。500mlのペットボトルや長財布が入るサイズ感もちょうどいい。

 

　フェッロヴィエーレとはイタリア語で「鉄道員」の意味で、かつて鉄道員が持っていた鞄をモチーフにしたという。ちなみに1953年に作られた同名の映画はイタリア映画史に残る傑作で、そのラストは悲劇的なものだが、このバッグを手に入れた人にはハッピーな結末が待っているに違いない。

 

　Lately, one item I’ve actually been using and find incredibly convenient is the Il Ferroviere bag from the Italian leather workshop Fattoria del Cuoio. It features a distinctive silhouette with a horizontally elongated body and a rounded bottom. Thanks to two handles of different lengths, it can be carried in four different ways: by hand, over the shoulder, across the body, or as a clutch. The size is just right—it fits a 500ml water bottle or a long wallet with ease.

 

　Il Ferroviere means ‘railway worker’ in Italian, and the bag was inspired by the ones once carried by those who worked on the Italian railways. Incidentally, the 1953 film of the same name is considered a masterpiece of Italian cinema. Its ending is tragic, but for anyone who gets their hands on this bag, a happy ending surely awaits.
